KARL Expands Mandate into Advisory on Energy, Infrastructure and Data Centers, and Strategic Corporate Development

(Istanbul / Brussels, 2026) KA Research Labs (KARL) has extended its institutional mandate to encompass advisory services across new practice areas: Energy, Infrastructure and Data Centers, and related technological, financial and corporate solutions.

The expansion reflects the progression of KARL’s applied research and intelligence capabilities into structured advisory work. KARL’s four-decade track record in complex, multiple sectors, multi-jurisdictional environments — across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caucasus, and North America — positions the Institute to serve clients requiring both analytical rigour and operational familiarity with the markets in which they seek to invest, develop, leverage, or expand.

KARL’s advisory in this area supports clients across the full transaction lifecycle — from origination through to execution and settlement. The Institute’s role in any given mandate may encompass idea generation, counterparty identification and introduction, structuring of the negotiation framework, and active mediation between principals at the most senior levels of the organisations involved.

A recently concluded engagement illustrates the scope of this capability. KARL identified a strategic acquisition opportunity in the Turkish energy sector, assessed its commercial and structural viability, and introduced the relevant principals to one another. Over a period of approximately nine months, KARL facilitated negotiations at chairman and board level between a financially restructured power generation company and one of Turkey’s leading energy groups, mediating friction points and maintaining the integrity of the process through to the successful completion of the acquisition of one of the largest power plants in the country. The transaction was concluded without the involvement of a conventional financial intermediary. KARL’s contribution spanned the full arc from initial idea to signed agreement.

This engagement is representative of the mandate type KARL is positioned to execute: situations where the transaction requires not only a qualified introduction but sustained, senior-level facilitation across a complex and sensitive negotiation process — and where discretion, network depth, and the trust of both parties are indispensable conditions for a successful outcome.

In recent months, KARL has also engaged in advisory mandates supporting the repositioning of energy companies toward Data Centre Operator (DCO) models — a transition that involves strategic, commercial, regulatory, technology and financing dimensions simultaneously. KARL’s advisory framework in this area addresses market and counterparty identification, the structuring of development partnerships, and the design of transformation strategies suited to the conditions of each target market.

KARL has also supported the structuring of financing mandates for energy infrastructure projects with significant capital requirements, including assets operating at the intersection of conventional energy supply and emerging digital infrastructure. This includes projects where energy generation capacity — whether grid-connected, modular, or onshore or offshore — is being positioned to serve data centre load requirements, a development that is reshaping capital allocation across the energy and technology sectors.

KARL advises clients on the structural and strategic dimensions of entering, developing, or exiting markets across its geographic territories. This encompasses corporate structuring across jurisdictions, market and stakeholder assessment, counterparty identification and introduction, and the design of phased entry and expansion strategies calibrated to the regulatory and commercial conditions of target markets.
