GIP – Emerging Companies Market

(Turkey, 2011) KA Research Limited, in cooperation with Ata Finance Group (Ata Invest/Ata Online), conducted the “Emerging Companies Market (ECM) Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Survey” in order to measure and interpret needs and considerations of SME which is the target audience of GIP (ECM); which is new trading market similar to AIM in UK; and NASDAQ in US. 

A total of 302 executives of SMEs who are operating in various business sectors and sizes are surveyed in 43 provinces of Turkey. The survey was conducted between in October-November 2011 through the “CATI” (Computer Assisted Telephone Interview) and Face-to-Face Interviewing techniques.

Some of the key findings of the survey are as follows;

+43% of the respondents stated that “Financing Issues” is the most important problem that SMEs face in Turkey. “Lack of government support” and “High taxes” are the second and the third most mentioned problems with the rate of 12%.

+64% of the respondents claimed that SMEs are very/somewhat supported in Turkey. It has been recorded that 54% of the SMEs assume “Finding financial resources ” is the most essential subject which SMEs need to be supported primarily in Turkey.

+83% of SMEs believe in “Corporatization” as a substantial part of their business principles and long-term continuity.

+32% of the SMEs have an idea regarding GIP-Emerging Companies Market. That brings forward most of the SMEs have not heard GIP-Emerging Companies Market earlier.

+The survey results show that half of the respondents who are familiar with GIP-Emerging Companies Market do not know the scope of Emerging Companies Market activities in details.

+50% of the respondents stated they would have considered registering to GIP – Emerging Companies Market.
